In a recent interview, Prof. Yoro Diallo from the Republic of Mali, recipient of the prestigious Chinese Government Friendship Award and the executive director of the Center for Francophone Studies at the Institute of African Studies of Zhejiang Normal University, expressed his appreciation for China's modernization and its positive impact on Africa. He highlighted China's contributions to African infrastructure development, emphasizing the construction of over 100,000 kilometers of roads, 10,000 kilometers of railways, and numerous ports. These efforts, he believes, are setting the stage for Africa's own modernization journey.
Prof. Diallo stressed the influence of China's modernization effort over the years, which has served as an inspiration for African countries to embrace their unique cultures and histories while advancing development. "Chinese modernization offers valuable lessons for Africa," he said, "especially in areas such as poverty alleviation and infrastructure development."

In addition to economic growth, the cooperation between China and Africa is significantly strengthening their friendship. Prof. Diallo noted that the mutual respect and shared goals have fostered a sense of community, enabling both regions to work collaboratively towards common aspirations. This partnership is not only about economic exchange but also about cultural understanding and shared values, reinforcing the bonds of friendship that transcend borders.
China's role in shaping global governance was also recognized, with Prof. Diallo noting how China's peaceful rise and commitment to mutual development are benefiting not only Africa but also the wider world. He highlighted China's significant contributions to peacekeeping in Africa, where Chinese peacekeeping forces have not only maintained peace but also contributed to community welfare by building infrastructure and providing medical services.
In the broader context, China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) was recognized as a crucial platform for sharing development opportunities globally. Prof. Diallo emphasized that the BRI is closely linked with China's modernization efforts and is helping to create shared prosperity for all. He concluded by asserting that China's approach to modernization, rooted in mutual benefit and shared progress, is paving the way for stronger Africa-China relations and deeper cooperation.
